How do I process an exchange in the app?

[The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Can’t find exchange button only a refund option]

 

Hoping someone can help!

 

downloaded square a few weeks ago and just realised I don’t have an exchange function. 

every tutorial mentions exchange/ refund however my functionality only offers refund. 

do I have the wrong set up, do I need to enable something?

help please ?!

Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.

 

Exchanges is a feature that only comes with the Square for Retail app. With the Square Point of Sale app, you will only be able to process refunds.

 

Once you subscribe to Square for Retail, and download the Square for Retail app onto your iPad, please follow these instructions:

 

  1. Tap Transactions from the navigation bar.
  2. Search the receipt number or full credit card number to find the transaction.
  3. Tap the transaction to refund > Return or Exchange.
  4. Select item(s) to restock or Skip this step > tap Next.
  5. You can either issue a refund or search your item library to add additional items to the cart. The cart amount will automatically reflect the difference between the original and replacement items.

If customer wants to exchange a large shirt for a xl shirt.how can I do that so the large increase by one and the xl decreases by one?

I get how to do a refund, but how do we do an exchange? We are a retail store selling clothing and equestrian tack. If a customer wants to simply exchange a medium for a large, as an example, we are currently having to refund and restock the item, and then sell the new item. Seems like there should be an easier way to do an exchange, and if so, will someone please let me know how?
