How can I use inventory for my art gallery?

I work at an art gallery. We have used "item" for the name of the artist. "Category" is used for the type of art: painting, gourds, jewelry, etc.

How can I utilize inventory? Ie. Artist A is a painter and we have 4 of his pictures in the gallery. Artist B designs jewelry and we have 40 pieces of her work.

I would like to capture inventory at POS. Is this feasible with the way we have already constructed Item and Category?

Hi @Rockislandart,

It really should be the other way around.  Category would be Artist (grouping all of the items for that artist into a category).  THe items would be what you are selling and your inventory will be tied to the number of items you have for sale.

Example.  You have 10 lithographs from Artist A - Atist A is a Category, Lithographs is the item and 10 would be your starting inventory.
