[The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Online Order Receipt - Printing Issue]
I can't seem to figure out which settings on my receipt printer to adjust. I want to automatically print online orders, but only print in-store orders if the customer wants a receipt.

Thanks so much! The setting were a little different for Register for anyone else trouble shooting. Settings > Print Orders toggled on that option as well as Printer Settings > Print Order Tickets

Hey @barkshopbakery-
Thanks for posting in the Seller Community!
What options are you seeing when you go to Settings > Printers within the app?
Take a look at @AshleyK's post for more insight into adjusting printer settings for remote/pickup orders. Let me know if you have any questions about this, or aren't seeing the settings you need within the Square app.

I use Square Stand with an iPad, connected to a Star TSP100 receipt printer.
Online orders through my online store come in, and it shows up both in the Orders tab and the Transactions tab. When I click the orders tab, choose the order and select print, it says no printers are set up.
I got to settings > printers > in person orders toggled on, and then go back to the orders tab, select the order and hit print, and it prints the order. Great. That works well. Except that when some one walks into the store and makes an in-person purchase, the receipt printer automatically prints an order stub at the end of the transaction, which I don't want it to do. I do not have auto print receipts toggled. So i have been toggling that function on and off.
I would prefer to print the Order as a receipt through the Transaction tab, but by doing that, the receipt prints the tax as a new line for each item instead of smooshing them together as 1 tax.
Is there a way to print orders from the Online Orders tab while not having it auto print order stubs for in person transactions?
OR
Is there a way to get the online orders in the transactions tab to not space out all of the tax items?
See attached photo.

Hey @Brewstock-
Thanks for posting in the Seller Community.
Just to confirm, are you looking to have the same settings described in @barkshopbakery's post in this thread? If so, they provided some instructions on how to set up your printing settings based on fulfillment/order method.
Additionally, please take a look @AshleyK's post on instructions for adjusting just remote order settings.
Let me know if this information is helpful, or if I've misunderstood your question. I look forward to hearing from you!

I believe I have tried that, and while it auto printed Online Orders, it also was printing in person orders, which I don't want it to do. I will try this method.
The instructions you linked have since changed labels and such in the settings in the Square for iPad.
I went to Settings > Printers > Star TSP100 > and toggled ON for Receipts and In Person Orders, and OFF for Order Ticket Stubs and Void Tickets.
I then went to Print Orders > toggled ON Auto Print New Orders.
I will see how this works, but it really doesn't do exactly what I want it to do. I would like to print Orders from the Orders screen without ANYTHING auto printing. OR, I would like to print said Orders from the Transactions screen without it having an extra 10 lines that all say Tax: 0.45, Tax 0.45 etc. my picture won't upload for some reason. But I don't think my original question was fully answered.

OK I tried it, it is not working the way I was looking for.
A person came into the store and made a purchase, the printer automatically printed an Order sheet, not a receipt. I do not want anything to auto print.
I would prefer to be able to click on the Orders tab, and print from there manually, never automatically.
For some reasons regarding ONLY online orders, when I choose that online order in the Transaction tabs, it prints the receipt with all the items listed, and then in the tax sections, instead of printing 1 line for all the tax, it prints as many lines as there are items on the sale and tells me the tax for each individual item.

**THIS** is driving me nuts, too. What a painful way to print out an order.

We have both an in-store retail shop and an online store. We do 60% in store and 40% online. I just want the online orders to automatically print but I don't see how to do it without printing all orders. Currently what we do when an online order comes, is enable printing/orders and print the online order and then disable printing/orders to prevent in store sales orders to print. This is not ideal when you are a busy retail shop. Am I missing something??

+1
This should be so easy to implement.
How was that missed with the recent changes to the printer settings?

Hey @cubenam-
Hmmm. Take a look at these steps:
- From the Square app, tap the three horizontal lines in the upper right corner to navigate to the menu. or the down arrow at the top of the Square Register.
- Tap Settings > Orders.
- Toggle on Automatically Print New Orders.
From there, you should be able to adjust settings for in-store purchases:
- Tap Settings >Printers.
- Then once you've added the printer, adjust the print from this device settings.
Does that work for you? 👀

no this does not work. I don't want it to automatically print ANY orders. I want to manually choose when to print a transaction and when to print an order. However, the only way to do this right now is to toggle Auto Print Orders.

You should be able to turn off Auto Print Orders, then every time you have a transaction/order that you want printed, you can go to Transactions > Select Transaction > Print Receipt.
Does that work for you? If not, please contact our Support Team so we can find a solution or workaround for you.

Hello,
We purchased our Square Register along with the Star printer from square in 2018.
Due to the current pandemic- we have closed our doors and have switched to call ahead only. We have also set up ordering from our website, but cannot print to our register.
When following instructions from square on how to achieve this function, you are told to push the pairing button to connect, but our Star Printer does not have one.
Ive read through threads and have not found any of the answers helpful. The orders do show up under the orders tab, but there are no alerts to the register other than phone calls; which will only further tie up our phone line.
In summary I guess the question is- How do I get my Star printer to auto print online orders with no “pair” button.
thank you

Hello, we use Square Register and operate a seafood market. We use online ordering, and need to plan orders ahead of time to properly prepare them. We would like the printer to print the order when received, not when it is due. Right now, we have to manually go in and print orders which causes us to miss orders. Everything is enabled and turned ON, that we can see from this forum...
