Generating device code

The title of this thread has been updated from "The device"

 

I signed up with Point of sale register and the device code tells me it is only for the free app..how do I get one for the register? I followed the instructions and it did not let me create with the point of sale register. Thanks

Hi @accesswireless1 - Are you using the Square Stand or new Square Register (with a customer facing screen and employee facing screen)?

Since nobody else ever answered the question with a USABLE answer, here it is step-by-step for the love of god...

Before you get started, ensure you are signed out of the Square app.

  1. From Account & Settings > Business information > Devices in your online Square Dashboard.

  2. Click Create a Device.

  3. Enter a Nickname and click Create to generate your code.

  4. Choose to send your code via email or phone number and tap Send.

  5. Open the Square app on your mobile device and tap Sign In.

  6. Tap “Use a Device Code” and enter the code.

The device status in your dashboard should say Active.

I am trying to assign a new iPad a device code so I can track sales from 2 locations, I’ve created the new location in my dashboard but when I enter the device code on the iPad it says Login Restricted. This device code can only be used in the Square for Retail app. I HATE that app. I want to use my regular one. Please help!
