Employee Personal Purchase Tracking

We would like to track employees purchases so that we can correctly track inventory as well as charge them weekly/monthly for their purchases

@WoodsMkt ;

If you give the employees an Employee Discount of a % or $ amount you could apply this discount at the time of sale and that will remove the item from inventory also.

Add employees to your customer list and select the employee name at the time of sale.  Have this as a SOP.  When employee discount is applied you need customers name (employee name).

Hey there, we are also trying to track employee discounts and I had thought the customer idea would work.  We are using Square for Restaurants and I'm not sure how to select a customer.  Any insight here?

I use Square for Retail so here is how I do it but it may be different in Square for Restaurants.

 

Adding Customers to a Sale

When you add a customer to your cart, the completed sale will be recorded and stored in your Customer Directory. There are two ways to add a customer to your cart.

  1. Tap the search bar, Add Customer or the Customers quick tile.

  2. Tap the customer you’d like to add to the sale, and from their profile tap Add to Sale.

One of my retail locations uses a POS system that we originally started using because it allowed us to scan employee badges and give them an limit they could spend every two weeks that would then be deducted directly from their paychecks.

 

The badges contain a barcode that our current POS system reads and then gives us the report every two weeks for Accounting and then resets balances.

 

Can Square do something similar? Our overall experience with the POS is not great and we'd rather use Square, but the badge pay is integral to the employee's experience at the retail location and we need them to be able to have it.

Square does not have an employee purchase card like the one you've described here. This would be a feature request. Although this feature isn’t currently available with Square, it’s a great idea and I can see how it would be beneficial to your business.
