I have an email sign up form on my website. I'd like to offer a coupon to new subscribers. How do I set it up so that when a new subscriber joins the email list they get an automatic email with the coupon code?

I've been using the Marketing and separate Loyalty programs for the past several months, and the automations are very good. You can customize your content, send out emails and messages on your schedule, or setup the automatic marketing that is super easy, like a set-it-and-forget-it solution...takes most of the work out LOL.

Hi HC_Charlie,
Thank you so much for your answer. However, this solution only applies to customers after they've purchased from the shop. I have a sign up form on my online store and I would like to send an automated email with a coupon to customers once they sign up. This way they can use their coupon for their first purchase. Is there anything like that for the online store?

Trying to do the same and the new leads captured from the Square embedded form are not even showing up in the customer directory. How are we supposed to reach out to them???

I have just started designing my website and I have the email subscription at the bottom to receive emails and stay in the loop. Do you have to pay for Square Marketing to generate an auto-reply email?
And how do you set it to send automatically or do you have to manually check your square dashboard?

I never thought to add the coupon code to the email response. I'll set-that up now!
Also - how do I find the list of people who have signed up for my newsletter? I see I have a few people signed up but I cannot find the list!

Hello,
I tried setting up the automated Upsell Customers Post Purchase email and it seems that it's not available for online purchases, but only for in-store? Can you please provide this feature for online purchases? All other automations seem to trigger well with other criteria, wondering if this would be an easy set up.

I just had 3 new customers subscribe for our newsletter. I just happened to stumble on that information by checking my Square POS App, I saw that the number of customers had gone up, otherwise I would only have found out if I had signed in to my Square account and gone to my dashboard. I didn’t receive an email informing me. They may have been hoping to use the advertised Subscriber Coupon right then. We proudly fulfill orders within hours of the email notification. I’ve just now sent them a Welcome Coupon, 2 of them subscribed 2 days ago. I hope they are still interested and haven’t gone elsewhere to purchase. An auto-generated coupon would benefit all of us, retailers AND Square.

I wanted to confirm with you- do you have the subscription to Square Marketing?
If so, you will be able to see those Marketing Campaign reports to see all of your sellers that subscribed to the campaign.
Are you looking for a direct email to you when a customer signs up?

Hello, Kassi. Thank you for responding. I’m a small boutique, and I send out emails on the Pay As You Go plan. Yes, I’m looking for email notification when there’s a Form Submission, specifically when a customer sign ups for my email newsletter. Square Retailers shouldn’t have to find out days later—by chance—that a new customer has signed up. Also, there should be an automated email that goes out to the new customer, with the retailer’s news, special offer…

Appreciate you confirming what you were looking for. I consulted with one of our Marketing specialists to get more details on what is possible based on your post.
To start, there is a "Welcome Back New Customers" email available in the Square Marketing that you can use. This would be for customers that are entered into your Directory after a transaction.
Being able to get a notification when any new customer has filled out the entry form would be a Feature Request and I can escalate this to our Product Team.
To help with the filtering, you could try adding the "Created" column using the plus sign on the far right. This would be an easier way to see the most recent customers added.

Hi Kassi,
I am just reading this conversation. Since it has been a while, I'm wondering if there were any updates on this feature? I too am looking for the ability to send out an automated email to each person who signs up for my email list. I do pay for the marketing feature already. Also has there been an update on business owners being notified by email when customers fill out the email sign up form?

Hi Kassi,
Thank you for the article. I am aware of all of those campaigns. I'm looking for a way to target newly signed up email members, not people who have just made a purchase. It is critical with customer care to be able to communicate immediately with those who have newly signed up for emails and even better if I could offer them a coupon for signing up, which would come via email as soon as they sign up. Then, I can develop a relationship with them via regular emails and hope they make a purchase in the future. If this feature is not available, I will need to go elsewhere for an email service. I see that many others have requested this feature in the past.

Ah okay, @HealthBeat. Are these customers signing up for your email list in person or through your Online Store?
Right now, the only option to send them an automated welcome email with a coupon would be after their first purchase.

Kassi,
The feature to send an automated email to people that come to your website and sign up for you newsletter and do not make a purchase seems to be a highly requested feature. I too am looking for this option. I can't imagine it would be very difficult to add. It would be nice to send a coupon or even a digital download welcoming new subscribers. For me that is the ultimate in customer support. Can you please help us out with this? It is the difference between me utilizing square marketing or another email marketing company completely. Sure would be easier to just use square marketing.

Have you looked into the email options on Square Marketing? I would recommend taking a look through this Support Article. It will show you everything that is offered.
There are options to send coupon codes to certain groups of your customers, reaching out to new customers, etc.
Please let me know if you were looking for something different!
