Do I need to download both the Square Point of Sale and Square Appointments apps?

Hi @Elionne, and thanks for posting in the Seller Community! 👋 You can definitely download just the Square Appointments app, as it is a standalone app. I'd recommend taking a peek at this guide to make sure you've got everything set up the way you want it before you begin.

You're able to accept payments in-app using the Checkout screen of either app - Square Appointments or Square Point of Sale. Most of the features that you'll find available on the Square Point of Sale app should also be available on the Square Appointments app. However, the Square Appointments app includes many the appointments-specific features that are not available on the Square Point of Sale app. Please let us know if you still have questions!

I’m currently setting up my POS the receptionist has all the permissions that one of them is to allow to view appointments this is not available to view

I moved your post to an existing thread that goes over how Point of Sale and the Appointments app are separate. 

You'll want to download the Appointments app and have them log into that to view appointments. They aren't gonna be on the regular Point of Sale app.
