Canadian zip code - card is being declined because of the zip code. Canadian says it's correct.

I read somewhere that for foreign card, you enter 00000. Now some foreign cards are declined not because of postal code but because the US is out of phase with the rest of the world when it comes to security. Some of my canadians customers can not use their cards (they all have chips) but some others can... This is actually not a Square issue but the lack of clear guidance from the feds who let the banks decide on what they wanted to to to join the rest of the world... so far it hasn't been so great.

@ThierrLRC is correct, there are a few factors that can go into a card being declined for a incorrect zip code. You absolutely can try entering 00000 for an international card but you should not have a problem entering Canadian post codes, you can enter the alpha numeric post code by selecting the globe on the keyboard to switch between numbers and letters. 

 

Square requires 100% accuracy to process payments, so I would recommend having the customer reach out to their card issuing bank to ensure that they are providing you with the correct information.
