Can you change the delivery fee based on location or radius?

[The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Change Delivery Fee for different locations]

We are a mobile only business.

Is it possible to:

1 - change the delivery fee based on traveling to different locations (charge more for further locations)

2 - List city/town names instead of using the Delivery Radius (we are located near mountains, which are included in the radius, but where we do not deliver to)

Thanks for your help!

Hey @lali-

Thanks for reaching back out on our Seller Community.

1) As of right now, it is not possible to adjust the delivery fee based on location. That's a great suggestion, and hopefully one we'll launch in the future as we build out our delivery feature more.

2) As of right now, that's not something we can adjust in delivery settings. I would suggest putting that information somewhere on your website if you want to make it clear to customers in the meantime.

This is great insight, and I really appreciate you taking the time to reach out. I'll make sure to pass this along to our Online Store Product Team, as I think it's something other sellers make a great use of.

Hey @eKernallyYours! I really like your business name! Very clever.

As of right now, we do not have a way to adjust delivery fees/cost per location/radius. For right now, I would try to find a delivery fee that you're comfortable with based on the multiple locations you deliver to.

When I have an update on this feature request, I will definitely post it in this thread. Let me know if you have any additional questions.

We are a gourmet popcorn store that are now offering delivery to help with sells. Out area is relatively small in population so how I am making delivering work is by letting people put in for a delivery but we are holding all deliveries so that they are all being taken daily at 4pm. We then build a route and drop the deliveries on the customers porch. Sometimes we’re driving 20 miles to make a delivery. We are providing free delivery within 10 miles of our zip code and $8 delivery fee for 11-20 miles. Could the delivery fee be created to be tiered to automatically add this in?

Whats the status on this?  I deliver at a rate per mile or by zip code. The radius is up to 60 miles on way, a flat fee can't compensate for this distance. A simple mapping table zip code to fee would work. Do you have any suggestions?

@isabelle Thanks for your reply.

Bummed it's not available for us now.

Not sure how to proceed as we add more locations & needing to adjust the delivery fee. What do you suggest?

Here is my suggestion:

Is it possible to add a line, maybe in the Shopping Cart area, that adds a dollar amount, showing the additional charge? Something like this?

  Subtotal:                           $11.00

  Delivery Fee:                      $2.75

Delivery fee to your town: $2.00

  Tip (add tip)                         $2.00

  Order Total:                     $xxx

So when people enter their address, it would automatically be added to the shopping cart?

We can't trust people to do it on their own. There has to be a way that automatically inputs & adds the surcharge.

Thanks for sharing this with your group. This one is really important for those of us making deliveries.

Best,

LaLi

Hey @lali-

Thanks for your reply and example. That's incredibly helpful. It sounds like it could function similar to how we have location based shipping charges, which can increase based on distance.

For right now, I would try to find a delivery fee that you're comfortable with based on the multiple locations you deliver to. I will make sure to post in this thread when I have an update on the development of this feature. Thanks again.

We would also love to see this function. It was a bummer to design our whole site then realize that we can not charge for delivery to different locations but we can do that for shipping. Back to the drawing board.

If distance-based fees are not possible, then why does it give us that option on  the back end? I tried filling out my distance-based fees on the site and it doesn't apply the correct amounts to my orders.

Yes please advise when this is available. As we need to charge a different delivery Fee based on postcode/suburb. So can’t launch delivery properly without this function

I recently saw that Square allows zip code delivery which I prefer over radius.  I am curious, can you build different delivery fees to different zip codes, or can you merely do a single fee for all zip codes?

Hi @Tammyu2 !! As Isabelle mentioned on this same thread above, it's not possible to charge different delivery fees based on distance.

Is this something are you planning to do?

Can I open an item, named delivery and add the price with zip codes there? That way my clients can still order online? This is really important for our business.

This is definitely a deal breaker for me too. I've had to go to a Wordpress solution because of this issue.

@Tammyu2 - When there's news to share on whether this feature will be available, we'll def loop in everyone in this thread. You can def try the workaround you just suggested. Feel free to circle back to let us know how it works out!

This is so disappointing. I started on Wix, didn't do online payments with square
Went to SquareSpace (since they partnered with Square) no payments online.
I decided perfect I will do here on Square, because of course you take payments with the reader. BUT I went to do the delivery charges and NOTHING, no options at all. Is there a single website out there I can use for Square payments, delivery charges (based on radius or zip codes). I do not use a delivery service I deliver my bread my self and need the ability for customers to see when they are out of the free delivery area. I hope this is something working on, or I have to look elsewhere AGAIN.
3 Websites CREATED and then I find 1 thing that each doesn't do....
