[New] USB Scale Support for Square Register

We’re delighted to announce that you can now connect the CAS PD-2 scale to your Square Register.

With a USB scale you can get weight readings automatically and check out your customers faster. 

To connect your scale you must use a D-sub to USB cable and a null modem adapter/null modem cable and have the latest version of the Square Point of Sale app on your Square Register. 

Also, please ensure that you have correctly set up items to sell by weight and have connected the scale to your device by following the steps below.

To connect the CAS PD-2 USB scale to Square Register:

1. Plug the 9-pin male end of the D-sub to USB cable into the female end of the null modem adapter/null modem cable then the male end of the null modem adapter/null modem cable into the port on your scale. To keep the adapter firmly connected, twist the security screws into place.
2. Insert the USB-A end of the D-sub to USB cable into the accessory Hub for Square Register. 
3. To check the connection, open the Square Point of Sale app and tap the ≡ More button.
4. Tap Settings > Hardware > Scales. 
5. The connected scale should appear in the app menu as USB Scale.

Note: The Square Point of Sale app can only connect to one scale at a time. To disconnect the scale, simply unplug the scale's cable from your Square Register.

This scale is not supported with Square for Retail, Square for Restaurants, Square Invoices or Square Appointments apps.

Where can I buy the CAS PD-2 USB scale and cables? 

You can purchase the CAS PD-2 scale on Square Shop. If you already have the scale, you can order the D-sub to USB cable and null modem cable. You will have the option to select whether you are looking to connect to a Square Stand, Square Register, Square Terminal or Android device.  

Will I be able to connect my CAS PD-2 scale to a device other than Square Register? 

Yes, the CAS PD-2 can be used with Square Stand, Square Terminal and Android devices in addition to Square Register. Visit our Support Centre to learn more about hardware compatibility.

Recently bought a Square Register along with printer, cash drawer and CAS PD-2 Scales.

Printer and drawer working OK, but scales are not connecting.

I am using the 9 pin to USB cable supplied with the scales and plugging into Square Register USB Hub (with 5 usb inlets)

I have set the scales CAS PD-2 to Type 5.

The Square Register is set up for Point of Sale

In the Square Register scale hardware settings (Settings / Hardware / Scales - I am only receiving this message: "Connect a scale using USB to continue"

Not sure what I am missing??

Can you confirm if this is the case in Australia? Being advised by support that Square Register does not support scale connection.
