Hi Sellers! 👋
We’re excited to announce that we added the ability to create shipping rate profiles that can be applied during checkout from Square for Retail. This feature will allow you to create predetermined rate profiles based on where the order is being sent and the order total. During checkout, the shipping rate will automatically be calculated based on the eligible profiles you’ve set up, so you don’t need to input manually while building up a cart. Rate types can be configured for each profile and can be configured in the following ways:
Flat rate - charge customers a flat shipping fee based on the shipping service that’s selected
Free shipping - create a minimum order total threshold for your customer’s order to qualify for free shipping
Based on order total - create a shipping fee based on your customer’s order total at checkout. Multiple ranges can be created to offer shipping discounts based on the order total.
Setting up a shipping rate profile
Shipping rate profiles can be configured in the Shipment settings within Dashboard. These shipping rate profiles will only apply to the orders taken from the Retail POS at this point and will not apply to order orders from Square Online.
Applying a shipping rate profile
To apply a shipping rate, you must have the following:
-
Add at least one item with Shipment selected as the fulfillment type from Retail POS
At checkout, tap Add shipping and select the rate you’d like to apply to the order: only rates that are eligible based on your order contents will populate as options, but you can always add an ad hoc fee. If the contents or destination of an order changes, you will be prompted to recalculate the shipping fee, if desired.
💡 Note: You must have your Retail POS app updated to at least v6.25 or later to use this feature on iOS or Android.
