We know that sometimes you might need to authorize an individual to call in and ask us questions. Whether that’s one of your employees, your accountant, or even your spouse: you’ve got an option now. We just launched the ability for account owners to create and manage Authorized Representatives.
So, what exactly does that mean?
An Authorized Representative is someone who’s able to call Square Support and take the following actions:
- Discuss transactions, deposits, and other account-specific details.
- Request Square update the business’s Merchant Category Code (MCC), shipping address, and public profile.
- Request Square remove an old bank account if a new account has been added.
AND there is no cost to adding Authorized Representatives to your account.
How does it work?
To add an Authorized Representative:
- Sign in to the Account & Settings section of your online Square Dashboard > Authorized Representatives.
- Click Create New Authorized Representative.
- Enter the Authorized Representative’s name, email address, and/or phone number. You’ll also need to designate a location(s) they can contact us about. Finally, save your changes. Note: The person being added as an Authorized Representative will receive a notification via email or SMS, depending the information entered.
- Confirm. As a reminder, per Square’s Terms and Conditions, you are fully responsible for all activity that occurs under your Square Account, including for any actions taken by persons to whom you have granted access to the Square Account.
You and the Authorized Representative will receive a confirmation email. Your notification will confirm you have taken this action on your account.
They're added, what's next?
If an Authorized Representative needs to reach out, you'll need to share our number (855-809-9000) and your customer code. When they call in, we'll just use the contact information on file to confirm some details and then get them helped out! Don't forget to tell them to check out the Seller Community and Support Center for their answer first! There's no wait and there's tons of great info there. 😀
Can I remove someone?
To remove an Authorized Representative:
- Sign in to the Account & Settings section of your online Square Dashboard > Authorized Representatives.
- Select the Authorized Representative you’d like to remove.
- Click Remove.
Deactivating an Authorized Representative’s profile from the Employees tab of your Dashboard will also remove them from your Authorized Representative list.
