We're unable to connect Tap to Pay. Pleas Restart Square Point of Sale on your iPhone.

Mine used to work seamlessly, then one day it stopped working altogther.

 

We're unable to connect Tap to Pay. Please Restart Square Point of Sale on your iPhone.

I have restarted the app, updated the app, reinstalled the app, restarted my iphone. None of which help.

Our team had a look at the error logs for this device, and they noted that other apps are running in the background that are preventing Tap to Pay from functioning. The error occurs due to requests to the reader while the host app is in the background state

 

Can you try fully closing all background app and then try the following: 

 

Open the Point of Sale app > ≡ More > Settings > Account > Tap to Pay on iPhone > toggle off and on Tap to Pay on iPhone.

 

Let me know if this works or if you still see an error, thanks!

What brand and model of device are you using? I can flag our case to our advanced support team for further instructions but the steps to proceed will depend on which device you are experiencing this error with.

i am having the same issues.  

  1. I click on review sale
  2. i click on charge
  3. I see connect hardware or enable tap to pay to take card payments
  4. I click on the Enable tap to pay on iphone button below message
  5. a error box pops up above the "connect hardware..." message and says Sorry we couldn't complete your request. Please try again later. 
  6. there is no option in settings --> account  that says anything about tap to pay

I am using an Iphone 14 plus, iOS 17..5.1, square application 6.47.1
