Receive stock in the Square Retail POS app - no option to view and update selling price?

We've just added a barcode scanner and are looking at adding items in the iOS Retail POS app using Inventory ... Stock Overview ... Receive Stock.

Unless we're missing it, we're surprised to see we can update practically anything about the item except its selling price, which isn't shown anywhere and therefore can't be edited.

When adding stock items, we want to check if the selling price needs to be updated as we're adding the stock. Do we really have to use a separate screen to do this?

Thanks

Is this a restock of an existing item? If so then scanning only shows the inventory to add - This is why supermarkets change the barcodes for reduced items to yellow reduced codes for inventory and reporting etc.

I understand the importance of verifying product pricing before entering it into the system. Unfortunately, system limitations can sometimes make this process challenging. While it's a good idea to flag this as a feature request, changing the price of an existing item can significantly impact profit projections and overall reporting accuracy. It might be worth considering - if creating a new product listing would be more suitable in this instance

It's important for inventory management and reporting accuracy. Correctly entering the cost and vendor information will help calculate projected turnover, profit margin, and stock levels for a product already created at that price.

However, if the item's cost has increased or you've adjusted the price, creating a new item might provide clearer profit data in your reports."

We have retail open on our Ipad in front of our Mac with the Browser inventory open -  so we can check as we add plants etc as our prices change daily depending on the € exchange rate.

If it’s a new item you should get this screen when you scan and it says create item IMG_1003.jpeg

There has been an update this week - if it plays up delete the app and re install - works a treat to get rid of bugs… good luck

Thanks for your input Twiggy.

Yes, we're talking about adding new stock of an existing item, in our case, mainly books.

Adding a new item does allow you to input the price so we're not worried about that.

However, there's no reason whatsoever for us to create a new item if the book's price has increased, it's counter intuitive and doesn't bring any benefit to us.

I totally agree - The same rose variety costs us maybe 3 times more at peak times and its laborious   I think it would be great if there was a “macro” that offered [Is the cost price still “X and sale price still “Y” when you click to restock - feature request!

We've found an alternative - use More ... Items and scan the barcode there, brings up the item details.

Not quite as efficient as you have to click on Stock In Hand to update numbers but at least you can see and edit (practically) everything.

I say "practically", because for some reason the Vendor field is missing!
