Difference prices at 2 face to face locations

Just checking if anything has changed... The last time I looked at this. It was impossible to have the app use different prices according to location.

My scenario is that later this year I will be doing a very big event and I want my prices to be slightly higher for this one event.

I have 2 card readers so I'm thinking the easiest way to do this would be to create a 2nd account where I could list my items at a different price.

Is this possible - can I link it to my current account so it pays into the same bank account or should I just create an new account?

Anyone any way I can get around this?

Hi @Omeda,

I'm sorry to hear creating the second location created issues on your website. If you can provide more details, I'd be happy to help fix this.

It's actually possible to create a custom price for a specific location - apologies for any confusion ! Firstly, make sure to have 2 active locations on your Square account :

  1. In your Dashboard, go to Items then Item Library
  2. Click on one of your items to view the details
  3. Under Locations, select the desired locations
  4. Scroll down to Variations
  5. Click on Options by the price, then Add Price Override
  6. Add the price override for the new location
  7. Save

I hope this helps but let me know if you have any questions 🙂.

Hi @Omeda, welcome back to the Community 🙂

Correct - it's not possible to have varying prices for the same item depending on location.

How many items do you have? Would you consider creating duplicate items? Items can be assigned to locations, so you wouldn't risk selling the one wrong.

  1. From the Items section of your online Square Dashboard, click Create Item or click an existing item.

  2. Select applicable locations and save your changes.

When you sign in to this location on your Square app or device, you'll only see the items assigned to that location. You can have the same bank account for both locations too.

If you have a lot of items, you can easily upload duplicates with our export and import tool

Otherwise, technically, yes there's no problem in creating a second account, but it would likely result in a lot more work for you, with set-up, bank verifications, reporting, stock management and so on.

Let me know what you think - if you have any questions I'm happy to help!

I tried creating a 2nd location and it messed up my square website, but that won't help if I can't add different prices for the 2nd location.

So, I was able to change the price for the location but I discovered today that it also changed the price on the other location and subsequently on my website. How do I prevent this from happening? Also, is there a way to ensure all online orders are served by one location and not another?
