tracking item cost vs retail sales

Is there any way to track the item cost vs the retail sales?

i've looked and can't find any way to enter MY cost of an item so that it can be tracked. This seems to be a very basic inventory management need, and I am very surprised it doesn't seem to be available.

I tried to even add a custom field, but what  do you know, that custom field doesnt export with the items  when you try to export the item library.... Currently, i am having to keep my own spreadsheet of all the items and the tokens and enter my cost to buy in there. 

There has GOT to be a way in Square to do this.... anybody???

Are you running the free version of Square POS? The advanced inventory features aren’t available in the free version of Square. If you upgrade to the paid version of Square for Retail then when creating or editing items you’re able to create and add vendors, enter item cost, set restock levels on items and enable low stock notifications. It also adds some reports, 1 of which shows you inventory on hand value, potential profit, margin on each item

With Square for Retail Plus, you have access to four powerful reports: Cost of Goods Sold, Projected Profit, Vendor Sales, and Inventory by Category. Keep in mind, that these reports are not available with Square for Retail Free.

Square POS You can add the cost of an item but the reporting will not show you. You need Retail Plus for that.
