I have a deli and sell items by the pound, we use a CAS LP-1000 scale that prints price embedded barcodes -- are these able to be read/used with Square software?

mmm... I wish! But unfortunately no, not with Square. The closest thing I've seen is a 3rd party app that you can install on a Clover device... It's an extra $10/mo (and you probably have to use a proprietary scale).
Your best option is to program your scale to not use it's Price Inclusive Barcode feature, but instead, print only the variable price on its label with a generic barcode. Then set your items up in Square to have a variable price, where you will have to manually enter the price at checkout... Seems counterintuitive, and a real waste of what your scale can actually do, but it's really about as much as you can get with it and Square right now.
That would be an awesome feature though! It's not enough to convince me to leave Square. But I'd gladly pay $10/mo. for it.
