Is there way to hide the percentage of the Service Charge on the receipt for Online orders?

I am new to square POS. I am setting up the service charge for our online order. I noticed that the service charge percentage was shown on the receipt. However the tax percentage was not. Is there way to hide the percentage of the service charge on the receipt?

Hi @LW-5.  Currently, this is the way that it is with Square.  I know of no setting that would allow toggling the display of how the service charge is calculated.

Having said that, it is possible for you to head over to the Ideate Board and submit a feature request requesting this capability. Submit that to one of the POS teams (whichever one you use — standard, Restaurants, Retail, Appointments, etc).  They will review it and let you know.  It would be a good idea to state exactly why having this information displayed is a problem not only for you but possibly for others.  Currently, I can’t think of a good reason not to be really transparent about how service charges are calculated, but I’m sure you have a good reason that might sway the decision making process.

Chip

@LW-5 ;

I also do not know of a way to Hide something that is charged on a receipt.  Actually I am not sure if that is a legal issue.  On a receipt you are suppose to show all items, Taxes and fees that add up to the total amount.  Things I am curious about is you said this was an online order, and the Tax was Hidden, ie not on the receipt.

1) The online order was it within your State?

     For me online orders that are out of state get charged no sales tax.

2) For your online order was there sales tax charged but not shown on the receipt?

3) When you add up the total of all items on the receipt including the Service charge, do they equal the Total amount charged to the customer?   If they do, then there was no sales tax charged then hidden on the recipt.

I know if I got a receipt and after adding up all items including a Tax, I would like to make sure it matched what I was charged or I would question how legitimate the business is.

Tax was not hidden on the receipt. It just doesn’t show 9.5% on the receipt, rather the total tax charged. The system was set up that way. Which is why I curious why the service charge show a percentage on the receipt.

What is the name of the Tax you setup?   Sales Tax possibly?   So then it just show Sales Tax.  You may want to look at the name of the Service charge or was it Service charge 5% for example?    That might be all you need to do.
