Holding Card on File on eCommerce Store without Charging Card

Hi, my client is using Square and runs $10,000+ a day. Our business model depends on website forms for clients, but our sales agents upsell/downsell to a client as needed over the phone. We want to collect a potential customer's payment info within our website, without charging them, just holding the card on file until we call them and authorize a charge. Is it possible or is there an API to collect card data without charging until our sales agents agree to a customer about the exact dollar amount?

Thanks!

Welcome to the seller community, @koolkake! Yep—you can add a card on file for any customer without charging it from the Directory tab in the online Square Dashboard.

From there, you can select any customer that you've added and you'll see the "Cards on File" option in their detail section. Click on the three dots and you'll be able to confirm the card details from there.

Hope this gets you where you need to be. Please let me know if you have any further questions.
