"Not Secure" Message in Browser's Address Bar - SSL Certificate Needed?

Screen Shot 2022-07-18 at 8.47.10 PM.png

How do I get this to stop appearing on my company's website when visited? Sometimes, clients tell me that they can select an item's color, but not quantity. When they leave their wi-fi network and use cellular data, the issue goes away?? Not sure if this has something to do with the message preceding my website's address. I tried researching and saw that maybe it as due to the absence of an SSL certificate. Please provide any insight on this occurrence.

Thanks!

Perfect!  So, I answered this question a few days ago for another person.  Just follow this thread, and view the steps I included in the post marked “Best Answer.”

Do not hesitate to reach out if you get stuck, or something weird happens.  We are dealing with computers, obviously, and weird things always happen.

FYI — if you ever decide to rebuild your website using Square Online, keep in mind that it automatically creates SSL certificates for all web sites, so you shouldn’t have to worry about this every again.  No hurry, though.  The steps above should get your issue resolved.

Best,

Chip

@ShopBocaux It’s definitely due to the absence of an SSL certificate.  Before I answer, I want to confirm that you are using Weebly (now owned by Square, but the difference between Weebly and Square Online is important)?  Is that the case — you use Weebly site editor either online or in an app?

Hi @ShopBocaux 👋 I noticed this thread and wanted to give you some insight into this.

You are using the original Weebly editor, and you have the ability to enable or disable the SSL from the Settings tab in the editor. I noticed yours was turned off, so I enabled it for you.

The site should be loading securely now, but if you see something different please let us know. 😊

Thanks, and welcome to the Seller Community! 🎉

Hi Bernadetta,

It's working perfectly now! Thank you so much for your help. I'm online support at my day job and scold people for not reaching out for help and I hesitated to do the same and wasted time in the process. haha.

Thanks a bunch! You and Chip are gems!

Hello,
I am and have had this 'website insecure' issues all through last year. Even with my pro subscription.
I have renewed my pro subscription on my company website : www.BiSTEM24.org
However, I'm still having ssl issues; the message on the ssl update section on my settings says; "ssl is being configured check back later". This still shows the insecure caution whenever people  visit my site.
Kindly rectify this problem as soon as possible.

Hi @RichWeb

I updated the DNS for you to point to the correct IPS address, but you may need to republish for the changes to reflect.

Also, it looks like your domain is overdue for renewal. I recommend renewing the domain as soon as possible to ensure the domain does not expire.

Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks, Bernadette, the SSL issue has been resolved. You're simply a miracle worker😁!

However, I do not understand how the subscription works as I have just renewed my pro plan subscription on my website titled BiSTEM24 EdTech Foundation on Domain www.bistem24.org.

After I created it last December and chose my domain name I upgraded to a pro plan with the current website title. I have since paid for my pro subscription, and it is still ACTIVE on my account's billing- as you can see from the site you worked on. But the WHOIS Domain- www.bistem24.org, message on my account says suspended!

I'm not sure what to do, so I decided to wait and see if its final cancellation/expiration affects my ACTIVE website as I can't maintain a double subscription.

Kindly help with this

sorry cant paste a screenshot I took of my account and billing:

No screenshot needed, @RichWeb. I know exactly what you are trying to describe, and hopefully I'll be able to clarify a bit.

When you purchased the hosting plan last year you received a free domain credit good for 1 year registration of the domain name. This year, and going forward, you will pay for both the hosting renewal and the domain registration renewal.

The reason you see "suspended" in your account is. because the domain is setup for automatic renewal, but the last billing failed. Note: we renew domains 45 days in advance to help prevent any issues with billing. You still have until the day the domain expires to rew

Hello @lizwoods,

Thank you for posting on The Seller Community. I see this is your first post, welcome! 👋 Typically this means that either the domain is not pointed correctly to Square Online or if it's a Weebly Site (Not Square Online) the SSL Setting might be turned off from the Website Editor Settings please see @BernadetteA responses above. If you continue to have issues please let us know!
