Ok so i put 7% in for sales tax rate
$918.11 is my gross sales x 7% should = $64.2677
but not in the sales report. Report shows that it =$54.14 For sales tax
That would only be a 5.9% tax rate and not the actual 7% rate i entered
think there is a computing glitch ?????

Likely When setting up your tax you choose "include tax in item price" rather than "add tax to item price". with the include in price Square back calculates what the item price will be to get to that total with tax. So I would go check your tax settings.

Included vs added will give you different tax amounts and that is correct. It will be different.
examples using 7% tax
if you do tax added to item price, a $100 item will be $100 + $7 in tax for a total of $107.
If you do tax is included in item price, a $100 priced item will be $93.46 for the item with a tax of $6.54 for a total of $100.
both are using 7%. you can check the second one by taking the calculated item price of $93.46 and times it by 1.07 you will get $100.
the later example is how items are priced in European countries with VAT. It is supposed to be less confusing for the customer when they get to the register they already know exactly what the total will be versus the surprise many people get when they get the total with added tax.

@Threedbees Since we can't access account specifics in this forum. Can you post a pic of the item details that you are selling from this page? https://squareup.com/dashboard/items/library
and the tax setting from this page https://squareup.com/dashboard/business/manual-taxes
Click on the tax that is being applied to the item in question and post a pic.
Also, is that only 1 item sold or many different items sold? there could be an item(s) being sold that doesn't have a tax assigned to it thus bringing down the effective tax rate.
