Why is the Square login page not saving or auto-filling my username and password?

Just recently (last day or two), the Square web page login doesn't trigger the Safari Password Manager so that it will automatically enter the user name and password into the login screen - plus, I am also being presented with the "I'm not a Robot" challenge.

Not sure if this is something new with some setting on my Mac or a security change at Square.  Is anybody else experiencing this change?

This worked for me!  However, I don't think I had to clear the cache. I cleared the history, and then I went to Safari-->Preferences-->Privacy-->Manage Website Data-->then deleted the SquareUp.com cookie (maybe this is the cache?). Then restarted Safari. Anyways, it seemed to work. I don't have too much faith in it lasting, but hopefully this workflow solves the problem for others. Next time it happens I will start with deleting the squareup.com cookie.

To follow up on my original post - FOOTHILLSPETRES and 101LAKEFUN suggestions were able to resolve the issue for me.    In my case, clearing all history wasn't enough but when I went in and cleared all website data for squareup.com, that took care of things.  I also adjusted some of the website settings and allowed things like popups but not sure if that had any effect.

For clarification to all - I am running a Mac with Safari 15.3.

Sometime this week something changed...

I'm using a MacBook Pro, MacOS: 12.1, Safari: 15.2

When logging into squareup.com and choosing the sign in  link, the sign in page looks different than it did before and no longer offers autofill for the userid or password.

Anyone else have this issue?

Thanks,
Mark

I have this issue with it on my windows computers (some not all) and all of them are using Chrome browser.  My windows 11 laptop seems unaffected, or not updated like my desktop which is a windows 10 system.  Laptop auto filled password, but windows 10 desktop did not.

Mark, yes, I'm having the same issue. The sign in page looks different and no longer offers autofill for my userid or password.

I've spent a couple of hours trying to figure out why to no avail. If you get anywhere, please let me know.

Thanks in advance,

I was having the same issue on my MacBook, but not on my iPhone. My first thing I tried was to delete and re-save my login info through password manager but  I got the same result. Next, after finding this thread, I deleted the squareup cookies the way others have listed. This time Safari auto-filled my password information as it should and I am hoping that it stays that way. It seems Safari was not recognizing the login screen because it neither suggested using a stored password, nor storing the password that I had to manually enter each time I logged in. These problems happened when the login screen changed so I am thinking the problem was initiated by Square and only for the web version since my iPhone app worked normally.

Hello everyone. We haver reached out to our engineers about this situation and they are aware of Password Managers or Browser Autofill behaving unexpectedly and are looking forward to address it.

In the meantime, username and passwords will need to be filled manually.

We will be back with updates once they become available. Thank you for your patience.

This is an issue that needs a quick resolution.  I use square appointments and having to log in every time I want to use Square is annoying at best.

Thanks JJ. It's been a week - any updates? This is causing my staff a lot of headaches when they're in the middle of a rush and need to log in to change something.

Think it is something new in some update.  I use windows 10 on a desktop, and I have the new login that does not auto fill in the password.  On my windows 11 Laptop it auto filled....????  Both systems use the chrome browser.

Also affecting android. Thought it was weird that it wasn't remembering my login info.

Yes, I'm experiencing the same problem on both Safari and Chrome. Having to open up my password manager to find my password and copy/paste it into the login introduces a significant amount of friction to the experience. I'm hoping it's just a coding error that can be fixed soon!

I am also using Chrome and Windows 10. This is greatly affecting my staff as we all use this and they are now having to stop and look up the password. UGGHHHH

I'm using a Mac and the strange thing is. On Safari I have to enter it every time now, but on Chrome It auto fills. One good thing has come from it. My square password is permanently etched in my memory now. 🙂

Happened with us too. Using safari on an iMac. The strangest thing is it doesn't happen every time. It has gone back and forth for us, and the Sign in screen also has a different layout. It is currently on the bad one today where we have to fill in the password by hand.

Also a Safari user here and also having the same issue. The really strange part is on one of my Mac accounts the login screen and keychain loads normally; on a different Mac user account the login screen is "new"/different and password manager does not load. (I'm referencing different Mac User accounts, not Square accounts).

Not working for Square for me either. Customer Services says everything is fine and the new page was "purely aesthetic". Obviously they did something with this change to make it stop working.
