Why are there charges for $0.01 to my bank account?

I just signed up for suare this week. Linked my bank account have not even recieved my reader in the mail yet and there a 2 charges of $0.01 to my bank account. One is still pending and one has already gon through. What are these charges for??? Has my account been hacked? Is this some hidden fee??

it is a deposit and withdrawal to verify your bank account.  no hacking involved.
