Third Party App Order Management

We currently use Chowly to integrate the 3rd Party deliveries into Square so that the orders print on our kitchen printer and we aren't having to manage orders coming through 4 different tablets. Streamlining this process is great from an order management perspective but I'm getting a little frustrated with Chowly. I am sure they are overloaded with new customers since the onset of the Pandemic and thus have been a bit slow on the customer service end. Since they now manage our menus on these apps it's tough for our business when we have to wait for them to make updates to our menus. It also seems that once I start working with someone there to make changes on our menus the person I communicate with leaves.

I am considering switching app and am wondering what other apps people use to help manage 3rd party delivery orders.

Thanks!

I’ve been a Chowly “subscriber” since March 2020. They could not get it configured properly during the “free trial” period and then billed me for items outside the scope of the agreements they wrote and had me sign plus the monthly service fees. As I really DO want to like the service, hours were spent with their account support to keep me from disconnecting the service, with promises that things would be made right and instructions that I should not pay anything while they work on setting up my account properly.

Despite continuous effort on my part to resolve the numerous configuration issues, they simply gave up trying to support my account in July. They have continued to send me bills and disconnect notices. Each one is followed by my reply that their service has yet to function correctly and reminding them of the instruction that I owed no fees.

That “disconnection” back-and-forth took place again this past week. Their billing person has offered to have support work on my account once again. Support reached out and I forwarded them the thread of emails where things were left in July.

No resolution yet. I hope they can get things working. I really love the idea of this integration. I’d be happy to pay for it — that’s why I signed up. But they can’t get their act together. We are in a far worse spot with them than we were without them... but every so often when things work just right, there’s a shimmer of hope that they’ll end up pulling through, eventually!

I’m certain that none of that helps your situation, but I hope you feel comforted knowing you’re in good company.

Unfortunately I haven’t had much success with 3rd party delivery integrations either. The main problem has always been the menu sync, it never seems to work. I had used Doordash and Postmates with Square, and my menu was never accurate. The most important part - 86ing items - was still a manual process on all three platforms; I still needed the other tablets just so that my staff could go in and mark items as unavailable on each platform.

I tried Chowly way back at the beginning of the pandemic but never got far with them. I didn’t like Chowly because there’s too many connections between you and the customer, sort of like the telephone game. Customer > Delivery App > Chowly > Square > You. At each junction there’s an opportunity for something to go wrong.

I’m no longer using any 3rd party apps (well technically I’m still using them, but only for order delivery through Square Online) and instead relying on customers to order for delivery directly through my website. I don’t get the visibility from being on Doordash or UberEats platform, but I also get to keep more money and my menu is always current.

Really appreciate you taking the time to outline your journey with delivery integrations, @londontea 🍵

I've been ordering directly from business' websites whenever possible for all of the above reasons - mostly the money bit!

Tagging you to make sure you see this new response @ZDeli 🥪
