Trying to setup the Square reader

Proceed to connect reader and after setting the orange lights on reader and it shows up and tries to connect but then fails.  I can identify the reader from the app and it knows its charging but it wont fully connect. Tried all the recommended troubleshooting

Need help to figure out why!!

Hi @mandamade,

Thank you for reaching out 👋

The Dragon Touch Notepad isn't a tested device with the Square Reader. When a device isn't listed as supported here, it may not meet all requirements for compatibility with the Square Reader.

While our team strives to test as many devices as possible, with hundreds of new Android phones and tablets coming out each year, we're unfortunately not able to test all of them.

I'm sorry I wasn't able to be of more help here!

OK - the tablet is running Android 10 so meets the spec  on your link  (also has Bluetooth 5.0)

Requires iOS 12.0+ or Android 5.0+

Can you outline any other dependencies?

Hey @mandamade,

If your Android device isn't working with Square it means that it does not meet our minimum security requirements to run on the device. These requirements are technical in nature and governed by PCI compliance requirements as well as Square's own internal security requirements, which are not made public for security reasons. Generally there's unfortunately not a lot you can do to make a device not listed as compatible work - especially if you're seeing an error come up on screen that the device is not compatible.

If you're getting any specific error messages let me know what it says - very occasionally there may be a setting on your phone that you can change if you're getting specific messaging relating to that setting, though 9 times out of 10 the device simply is not compatible with Square.
