Square reader for magstripe (with lightning connector)
Squareup website sells the square reader for magstripe (with lightning connector) but delivery is 7-10 days and I don't see anyway to expedite delivery. What local retailers in Houston sell the square reader for magstripe (with lightning connector)? I tried Best Buy and Frys Electronics but no luck.

It is a brand new in the last few weeks item. I don't believe it is available in stores. you can use the lightning to 3.5mm headphone jack adapter that came with your iPhone until the new one comes in the mail. If you lost it the adapter is $9 at Apple stores https://www.apple.com/shop/product/MMX62AM/A/lightning-to-35-mm-headphone-jack-adapter

My phone is detecting the magstripe reader but when I slide the credit card, nothing happens, It might be that the adapter or the magstripe reader is defective. I read the troubleshooting tips and community posts but that did not help. I have tried 3 different phones and different credit cards. Nothing works. Same result everytime, The reader is detected but it is not reading the credit card.

That's weird @Precool.
When you tried the different devices did you try one with a 3.5mm headphone jack? This would help determine if the issue is with the reader or the adapter.
I'll keep an eye out for your reply!

I am having the same issue as @Precool I have a mag reader for our non-profit org that hasn't been used in a while. I updated all the store information, profiles, employees, inventory, etc. But when I plug in the adapter with the mag reader to my iphone7, it recognizes the reader and says it's connected. Then when I swipe, nothing happens.
The tutorial shows it can be used for swiping or to read chip cards. But the reader isn't even deep enough to cover the whole chip. I am thinking it is too old, but can't find anything with a version number on it.

@planolax Do you know how long you've had that magstripe reader? If your magstripe reader is from 2015 (or before) it could be an version that isn't supported any more as we've made improvements to the hardware. I suggest ordering a new magstripe reader online, or you could buy a magstripe reader for with a headphone jack connector from paticipating retail locations: squareup.com/where-to-buy.
Also keep in mind that the magstripe readers can only be used to swipe magstripe cards. To accept chip cards at your organization you would need to use a chip card reader.

I have the same problem. The reader is there but it doesn't swipe. It is the lightning connector. Had it about 3 weeks.

Hey there! Welcome to the Seller Community. I've moved your thread over to an existing one that will help you get a hold of our new Magstripe reader with a lightning connector that will fit into your iPhone. @VanKalkerFarms has a great solution if you do not want to order the reader.
You have a few options:
1: Order the Magstripe reader with lightning connection through us
2: Pick up a reader in stores as mentioned in the post above
3: Buy an adapter from Apple so you can use your current reader.
Have a great day!
