Many sellers who are new to Square want to know where they can go to update basic account info. If you’re wondering where to set up the backend of your account including locations, pricing, bank account, and personal info, this post will be helpful for you!
Once you log in to the Square Dashboard, scroll down and click on Account & Settings on the black menu bar on the left. It should look like the image below.
Once you click on Account & Settings, you’ll see all the things you can update in this section. I won’t go into each one in depth today, but will point out a few key areas to get updated to make sure your account is set up in the best possible way. Let me know if I missed any sections that you’d like to know more about!
Account Section
Personal Information
This is where you update your business name, email address, password, and activate 2-step verification (a must for account security!)
To get your deposits, you need to link a bank account. This is where you put in your bank account info and update it if you ever change banks.
Get Free Processing
Under this tab, you’ll see your unique referrals link. Eligible referrals who activate a Square account through your link will receive free processing on up to $1,000 in sales during their first 180 days. For each eligible referral, you also earn free processing on up to $1,000 in sales over their first 180 days. A win-win!
Business Section
Locations
If you are adding a location to your Square account, you can create the new location in this tab. This is also where you edit location details (like address and logo) for existing locations.
Pricing & Subscriptions
This is an important tab to know! Here you’ll see payment processing pricing as well as any subscription pricing you have set up (for products like Square for Retail, Appointments, Square Marketing, etc). You can see monthly summaries of your subscription payments on this tab. For summaries of your payment processing fees, head over to the Sales Summary tab.
Deposits
Under this section, you can see what your current deposit schedule is, and customize it as needed. You can also use Instant Deposit from this tab in the event that you need to get your funds more quickly.
Receipt
Under Receipt, you can customize the receipt your customers will see when they make a purchase from you. You can add in logos for your digital (email/text) and printed receipts, as well as personalize the address and business contact info you want your customers to see. This is also a great place to add a return policy - one of the more important things you can do to set yourself up for success if you ever get a chargeback.
Tax Forms
Use this tab to do two very important things:
- Add in your taxpayer information, including your SSN or business EIN
- Download your 1099-K Forms, if you qualify for one
Square Accessories
Card Reader
In the Card Reader section, you can order a free magstripe reader, or pick up one of our contactless a chip card readers. You can also order additional hardware from the Square Shop.
Order Status
If you place an order for a reader, you can check on the order status on this tab. If you’re in a hurry, you can also go to retail locations to pick up a reader.
