Until now, when refunding, the option was for cash or card (depending on the sale).
Today I only have a refund option to giftcard.
This is despite the original sale being to cash
How do I add the option to refund to cash?
How do I take away the option to refund to giftcard ?- as we do not have this set up

Hi there, @VicProjects,
When issuing a refund for a cash payment, the process remains the same as issuing a refund for a card, the main difference being you only have the option to refund to cash or to select the option to refund to a Gift Card. You will need to select the Cash option when issuing the refund and ensure you have also selected a reason for the refund below before you can hit 'Refund' in the top-right corner of the screen. I've included a screenshot below of what a cash transaction refund looks like from my Point of Sale app.
The option to refund to a Gift Card will appear as a default option and cannot be removed from this page. In the event this option is selected in error, you need only hit the back arrow to be taken to the previous page.

Hi Laurie
As I mentioned, my problem is I only have the option to refund to gift card. The ability to choose refund to cash or card is not available - despite the fact the original sale was for cash.

This is certainly a first for me - I'm wondering if you log into your online Square Dashboard whether you can see the option to refund to cash when issuing a refund this way?
Another thing I tested from my side was to process a cash payment and then remove the cash payment type from my Checkout settings. When I go back into that cash transaction to issue a refund, I can still see the option to refund via cash, which confirms the Checkout settings have no impact on this option appearing or not.
Let me know how you go with issuing the refund via your Dashboard.
