Re-using physical gift cards - threat of theft?
I would like to reuse physical gift cards since they are pretty costly. I understand you can clear a balance on a Square physical gift card, but has anyone ever experienced a case where you've cleared the balance, issued it to a new customer and the original customer tries to use the card? I'm just trying to think of all scenarios as I instruct my staff on how to reuse physical gift cards this holiday season. I'd love to hear anyone who reuses their physical cards on their processes for this!

I have not had this happen, but you bring up a good point if someone were to keep the numbers or a picture of the card etc. I use the physical gift card for in store purchases only, so because of your point here I will be posting signs that the Physical Gift Card must be Present at time of use. The gift card already states it is for in store or Phone orders and does not work with MY online store since it is not through Square.

Thanks for replying! We have on the actual gift card that it must be present at the time of use so I think you're right, that should cover us.
