Question about shipping, tax, and discounts.

Hi 

I need to have the discount taken before taxes are add.  How can i show this.  

IE

item $400

discount $35

subtotal 365

PA Sales Tax $21.90

Total = 386.90

If have the sales tax added before discount then it comes up different amounts.

Hello @SarahMcD1, welcome to the Seller Community! 

With Square Point of Sale all discounts are applied before the sales tax. So there are no additional steps that you have to take to do this!

Is there a way to over-ride this setting?  There are a few instances where we need to charge sales tax on the full price of the item, not the discounted price.

Unfortunately not, it's more of a rule in the POS software rather than a setting. I get why you want this, but it's not on the road map right now. I'll make sure to share your feedback with our Catalog Team.
