Ordering App for retail store

I know others have received emails from Orda, the mobile app that is a third party app for Square. I know it focuses on food/beverage businesses. I was just wondering if anyone knows or or has a recommendation about an app that would work for a retail store that sells clothing, home décor, etc. It would be a great addition to my store, I just didn't know if it already existed or what other recommendations someone might have. Thanks so much in advance for your time!

Hi @christina7 - Thanks for stopping by The Seller Community 😊

Great Question.

I wanted to connect you with some of our Super Sellers who utilize Square for Retail who may have some pretty good feedback to provide on this subject:

I hope this helps.

I got nothing for this one since I am strictly a brick & mortar and all sales are face to face transaction

Sorry, no experience here with a separate app and I don't have experience with Orda, but it looks like it could be used for other stores, like retail and not just restaurants. I'm not sure how a separate app would work better than a regular mobile-optimized website, but perhaps the marketing aspect of being able to promote an app?

Hi Christina! Orda also works with retail, here's more information on this: https://www.getorda.com/mobile-ordering-app-for-retail

I don't have any experience with Orda, but I've often thought about having an app for my retail shop. I'm not sure if it would increase sales, which is why I've never moved forward with it.

However, I will say that Square Online offers an excellent "Progressive Web App," which is a version of your website that functions exactly like an app, including with its own app icon. Best of all it's free.

On an iPhone you'll go to your website and tap Share > Add to Home Screen. An app icon will be added to your phone and when you tap it you'll be taken to a version of your website that works just like an app. I'm not sure how you do this on Android, though I presume the steps are similar.

You do have to instruct customers on these steps, there's not a way that I know of for customers to click anything like a "Download" button.

We don't use an app for our shop but I'm interested in learning more about it.
