Is there a user's guide for the Square register?

I'm having a lot of trouble finding answers to "how do I" types of questions.  For instance, I can't find anything on how to accept payments on account, and how to apply existing credits to sales transactions.

I would be happy to help out with any questions you have. We do have a Square Register Guide that does have a section accepting payments with your Register. 

In regards to applying an existing credit, did you issue this customer a Square Gift Card or is this store credit from your previous point of sale system?

Hi Chad,

I'm talking about ongoing credits where the customer makes a down payment on work to be performed in the future or a class they want to take.  Some were from our previous system, but we are going to continue taking deposits/down payment going forward.  I already have a suggestion to make a "Customer Credit" item for the down payments, at variable price and a "Customer Discount" also at a variable amount for when they use the credit the day they pick up the work or take the class.

I see what you mean now @GlassJudy. So right now we don't have the ability to accept deposits for in person payments. 

We are Testing Partial Payments in the Invoices Request Deposit Beta  which would allow you to take a deposit on an Invoice. You can request access to the beta by commenting on that thread. 🙂
