Is there a hold when purchasing gas with my card from the pump?

Almost all gas stations will pre-approve around $75-100 to make sure the cost of the gas will be covered.  This amount will usually be cleared out of your account by the next day, and only the actual amount of the gas will be charged to your card.

I bought gas at a Shell with my square card and they have a $60 hold on my money how do I get that released its in pending transaction and it's been 4 days?

I got charged 39.11 and their still holding it 3 days later. Not sure who to call.

I know most gas stations do this, however there’s no reason AT ALL that square is holding the money this long. I’ve NEVER seen anyone do this. They held my money for 5 days. And now it appears they will hold $63.13 again. It’s excessive to hold it so long.
