The title of this thread has been edited from the original: Editing (not deleting) an item and impact on reports
My question is similar to the topic found here, but not quite the same:
https://www.sellercommunity.com/t5/General-Discussion/Inventory-If-I-delete-items-will-my-reports-co...
My question is if I EDIT, not DELETE, an item, what happens to the item in the previous sales records and reports?

I'm happy to clarify @SweetRelishDogs. If you edit an item it will not affect or alter the item details in your Item Sales/Sales Summary reports or your Transaction history.

Once edited, will previous sales reflect the old name while new sales reflect the new name?
For example:
Gray Sweatshirt is changed to Brown Sweatshirt
History will look like:
Gray Sweatshirt: $300 in sales
Brown Sweatshirt: $50 in sales
Or,
Will it shows as:
Brown Sweatshirt $350 in sales
