How do I make more sales

I had my business for over 1 1/2 years and now I'm doing extremely poorly with trying to sell enough tickets to run speed dating events.

The last and only successful event was last year when I fully invested myself with Eventbrite, but since I noticed shady behaviour from them (and that 1/4 of the people didnt show up to the one event), I moved on over to ticket tailor and here.

Since then, my sales have dropped signoficantly. When I fully trusted Eventbrite, I had at least 1/3rd to 1/2 the people required to start an event. But now with Square, the numbers I get are worse (about 1/8th of the people required).

I'm probably raising my issue on the worst day since probably everyone is addicted to Taylor Swift and has been feeding her thousands of dollars, yet I only ask for $28-$38 per person per event.

As for efforts, I did everything possible. Ran my own website, put up physical flyers through southern ontario, and I even contacted a local business councellor, and tried social media, all without success.

And on top of that, my website passes tests with flying colours through google's Pagespeed Insights.

As for the venue locations I choose, they're all on bus routes and easily accessible.

What could I be doing wrong? or do I need to somehow figure out how to optimize square's javascript code so it loads faster? because I think alot of people are impatient and want to click the first thing they see without thinking.

Any ideas?

It seems like the tech is not your issue but the promotion is.

I would:

  1. throw flyers in the trash, hire someone to film and edit a highlight reel of one of your events showcasing all the fun people have at your events. Make this event FREE so you pack the place. Get video of the people there saying how much they enjoyed it etc.
  2. Make sure you're constantly sharing some success stories of couples who are still together after meeting at one your events or even better got married have a family etc etc. (IF you don't know that then you need to follow up with any past attendees and find out).
  3. While you're contacting past attendees, get reviews from anyone who had a great experience and share the **bleep** out of those.
  4. Learn HOW to run Facebook/Instagram Ads and use the content from the FREE event to create ads that promote your next paid one.

Hello @osd just wondering what kind of venues you are holding these events? I haven't been to a speed dating event so I only know what I've seen in the movies (LOL forgive my ignorance) . I'm just wondering if the choice of venue could either attract attendance or put people off. Maybe if you partner with a popular bar or restaurant, or other gathering place business (like a pottery studio or sip and paint studio), or yoga, pilates studio ??? you could piggyback off of people who already attend those businesses, and you may be able to partner with them and offer a discount service or drink ticket?
