Gift cards declining

Hey- for the last few days When I try to swipe a gift card, it declines the transaction. After a couple attempts we check the balance and there has always been ample money on the card. If we type in the card it will process just fine. Anyone know why this is happening??  Using the new square stand, with a magstripe reader in the headphone jack! THANKS!

Just to confirm, have you been able to swipe gift cards on your magstripe reader before?

Hey there! I'm currently having the same problem now... We sold a bunch of gift cards at Christmas time, and now every single card is declining when swiped. Checking balances works just fine. However, the card CANNOT be swiped. This is a huge issue!

Just to add some context. These cards were custom made Square gift cards. Bought in quantity of 1000. These gift cards have been programmed and active for just over a year now. We have always been able to load, pay, and checkout customers balances just fine via swiping the gift card.
