I am Amanda, I just started my business Mari Skincare, selling natural products that celebrate you and your goals! We use marigold (calendula) oil or extract in all of our products for its skin healing abilities, so your body is ready for whatever your mind has in store! 

 

Since I am brand new, I was looking for a popular platform for accepting payments. I see more and more people using square everywhere I go, so I knew that's what I wanted to try. Im looking to this forum for advice on how to use the software (for example what is the modifier setting used for??) As well as practical tips to help with selling, such as how to confront customer's hesitations with using Square products. I notice that customers are weary of giving their credit card at the farmer's market if the payment method is plugged into my phone like the square reader (they think of it as scamish), and have more confidence using their credit card when the payment method is at a more "professional terminal" like the iPad dock terminal. Has anyone else ever had that problem? With me being new, I would like to start out using the basic square reader until I can save up enough for the iPad Square terminal, but I would like to ensure customers that this is a normal payment terminal and not a scam. I think people are scared of their personal information being stolen by me through my phone or something. Any help or advice on how to navigate this would be great!!

Relatively new to square, I like that the free option for the first reader plug in is free however with more phones going to less plug ins and the functionality of being able to pass the reader to teammates I think it would be just awesome if the first free ready could also include the the wireless tap reader. 

 

I also just saw the rewards system trial - I think that is great! I look forward to using it. Rewarding loyalty goes a long way!

We are a newly opened business and have been using square from the beginning. We ordered square mostly to design our website, not even realizing how helpful it was going to be. The more we have been using it and researching all the capabilities available, we are nothing but impressed and excited that we made the right choice! Wouldn't choose any other service.

Hello , Im Stephany owner of Phanny Beauty in Davenport Fl. I love using square and have used it for 3 years since becoming a full time entrepreneur . I have advance in using a new POS system where I can use apple pay and my clients are enjoying that contactless pay . I also am utilizing the website set up that is super easy . only con I have is separating my services from my product on the POS system and adding add-ons to services. However since 2018 they have improved on a lot of new specs and can't wait to continue to be apart of there journey .

Hi, I'm Angela and I own Studio 1883 , a Vinyl and crafting supply store in Southern Indiana. I started using Square before opening our brick and mortar store when I used to do customized products at events with the mobile reader. 2 1/2 years ago, we went full out and decided to open a supply store and I bought our first Square Register.  Since then we've expanded and I now have 2 full time Square Registers, and a Square terminal machine used for our drive through business and events. 
I'm looking to find answers to more complicated ideas, or in depth questions when I post in here or as I read through posts. Since my business is more unconventional and craft oriented, most of the time times my needs can be a little different than others and I'm looking to use the system to its full potential or for ideas on a way to utilize something thats maybe meant for for different business type, but I can utilize it .

Hello everyone! I am the owner of Nelson's Landscapes Unlimited in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I am entering my second year of business, and this is my first year using Square and it has opened lots of doors for my company. We had several clients ask if we took card payments and now with Square, we are finally able to AND at a decent rate (fee) per transaction. I am looking forward to not only meeting other owners of similar businesses but connecting with other business owners in general and networking.

Branded Sign Solutions.  We fabricate & install all types of signs from Banners to huge Electronic Message Centers.  We primarily got involved with Square for the few smaller invoices so customers could pay with a credit card .  The majority of our jobs are in the thousands and most of them do not want to pay a 3% Convenience fee.  So, we use Square for the few hundred dollar โ€œwill you take a CC for paymentโ€. However, We have since found and have been using now for a few years Square Payroll.  PLEASE bring back location clocking in and clocking out.

Hello, everyone, I'm Brent, owner of Brent's Computer and Phone Repair. I do much more than just computer and phone repair as my business has expanded into electronic repair. I have been doing small repairs for about 3 years as a side hobby, but ended up getting so many people needing repairs done that I had to start up a legal business in April of 2020. Since then I have been working on growing my business and have become a Samsung Authorized Service Center for their home appliances. I am still just a one person operation at this time but if all goes right in the next 6 months I will be looking to hire another tech (or 2). 

 

I have used the community to answer a few questions on here and they have helped alot. With all the things that can be done with square, I am still trying to learn more of how I can incorporate more of it into my business to streamline everything as I grow my business. I look to the sellers community quite a bit to get ideas of what others are doing.

Hi there everyone!  My name is Susan and my husband and I opened After Hours Plumbing & Drain Cleaning, LLC. in November 2021.  We are doing GREAT and learning SO much as we grow! I love using Square, especially the invoicing!  It makes my life so much easier!  I do wish that with Square checking we were allowed to have more than one debit card (with only one location).  It is just the two of us, and we both make purchases for the business and for jobs.  My BIGGEST headache right now is trying to find an accounting/expense tracking app that will integrate with Square checking!  I thought I found gold in Hurdlr, but after linking Square to Hurdlr I found out that, yes, you can link Square, however Square checking is NOT supported... That kind of defeats a lot of the point for me in terms of tracking expenses.  So, if anyone has any suggestions (other than manual entry lol) that would be so very much appreciated!!!!  Best wishes to each and every one of you, and I hope nothing but SUCCESS comes your way!!! โค๏ธ

Thank you for the opportunity to provide constructive feedback.  My Vintage Vinyl record store joined the Square team eight months ago following a two year period with the leprechauns and we are delighted by our switch-over and the level of support and functionality that Square Retail provides.

If given the opportunity to make one single change to the Seller Community, I would like greater integration to the Square Dashboard.  In my opinion, the Square Dashboard is overly commercial trying to sell new Square products.  I would like the Dashboard stripped down to my businessโ€™s relevant information and Square Seller Community postings that I have subscribed to.  When I check my dashboard daily, I would see relevant Seller Community postings and might have immediate and relevant feedback for the communities that I participate in.

Iโ€™m tired of seeing Square commercialization every single day and having to scroll past it to find my business information.  A Dashboard is for a quick and relevant perspective of my business.  Iโ€™m delighted to see Seller Community questions and information.  Iโ€™m frustrated to see continued Square offers and advertisements for things I donโ€™t need or want.

Give me a widget for each of my Seller Community channels, and they will be on my Dashboard!

As an example, this is my Dashboard today:

Hello Sellers!
My name is Mat and my wife and I own Exodus Hair and Barber Lounge in Cleveland, Ohio. 

 

I am a tech-y person, so I absolutely love new tech and that's a big reason why I love square so much. Beta testing anything applicable to my business has been great allowing me to test new features. One thing I think would be very helpful, is a trackable log of projects currently in the works. Being able to see an idea go from "wow this is great, we'll pass it along to the team" to "beta test this new feature" is an exciting journey that some clarity would ease frustrations. 

 

For example, Probably the most applicable feature of Square Appointments (for my business) that does not exist yet is a built-in waitlist. This has been requested for yeeeaarrrrssssss and I "hear ๐Ÿ˜‰" that it may be coming sometime soon. 

 

Rather than leaving everyone in the dark, it would be nice to be able to go to a page that said "Waitlist- you asked, we listened" with a "UPS" style tracking. "Your feature is in post production currently, expected to move to beta testing by 3/1/2022 (hopefully ๐Ÿ˜‰)"

 

This would answer many questions we sellers have, and would show the sellers that you care, you hear us, and you value our opinion.

I sell tours online among other services and I am trying to make Square work for me. I am running into some issues trying to adapt the platform to my requirements.

 

Is anyone selling the same kind of services?

 

I would like to start a thread for those specific types of services and how to make it easy for future store owners to sell them online. I am struggling and a community could provide a forum for brainstorming the best ways to use the power of the platform.
