Feature Request for square register: Name of customer appearing on screen at check out.

I have been running square register for 2 weeks.  By not handling the customer credit card we no longer see thire name.  We don't have the oppurtunity to learn customer names from the credit card and we have no idea if the customer is using their own card. 

 

I would like the customers  name to come up while processing payment or reciepts.  I feel this would add security and personalize the expericence for the customers.  We dont have time to manually enter the customers name in for each transacation.  I know the names are captured, just show us their name, and possibly even the singnature.

Our Register team is working on making customer names appear on Order Tickets with the Square Register when a Chip Card is read, so that might resolve this for you. I don't have an exact date on when this will be available, but keep an eye out for updates in the near future.

We dont do order tickets!  But it would be nice to see a name at the payment collection screen while the transaction is processing and the customer is selecting a receipt.  With the square register we never even see the card.  It would be nice to know if someones name or if they had a card that at least reflecting their gender.

I don't have any news on that specific feature, but hopefully with the release of the order tickets update, you can use that as a workaround until we get something better in place to help with this. 

 

I agree it would be pretty helpful to view the customers name on the checkout screen since you don't handle the card itself anymore. I'll pass this over to our Register team and if anything new comes up I'll post an update.
