Difference in credit card fees on reports

To complete a daily closeout, I run a report in Square and print it out on a tape. But I am consistently off on one particular day. When I go to the actual report, or look at the report on the Square dashboard, the credit card fees show a different amount than what is printed on the receipt. And that different number is the amount I am off. I waited several days to see if there was an adjustment, but it's the same thing one month later. Interestingly, the bank deposit reflects the number on the report, not what prints out on the report tape for daily closing! Anyone else experienced this?

@Grant1885 I have not, but make sure to check your reporting hours and that they match up.  I have seen some instances where close of day is set at like 5:00pm and someone runs a card at 6 and it throws things off.  Also check your disputes to make sure there is nothing there.

Hello @Grant1885 !

Hmmm... that's interesting!

Does your daily sales report on your dashboard show the same fees as the tape or the deposit? If it's showing the same as the deposit, that tells me that you may have taken payments on a different device, and your main device is set to only print its own sales/transactions.

On your device, head to Settings -> Reports. Tap on the day at the top of the report screen, and verify you are seeing "all devices" on the filter by device section.

If you haven't taken payments on any other device, you may have run into the end of day issue. By default, Square has end of day set at 5:00pm PST. Any sales after that time will show on the daily reports, but the credit cards won't be deposited until the following day. So if you take a payment at 6pm PST on Monday, it will show in your sales for the day but won't be deposited until Wednesday (by default). End of day times can be adjusted on your web dashboard at Account & Settings -> Business -> Transfers

Hope this helps!
