We've heard your feedback and we are proud to announce that the beta for decimal quantities is now live for iOS! (Please note that this feature is not yet available on Android or for Invoices)
Decimal quantities enables you to sell exact quantities in the unit(s) of measure you use to conduct your business—ounces, pounds, yards, gallons, etc. By previewing decimal quantities on your Square Point of Sale, you will be able to:
- Create items to sell in decimal quantities
- Check out customers purchasing items in decimal quantities
- View decimal quantity items in your cart summary
- Review sales by item quantities
- Refund items with decimal quantities
- Issue and display digital and printed receipts with decimal quantities
- Review your inventory and transactions with decimal quantities in Dashboard
By participating in this beta and providing us with feedback, you will directly influence and improve this feature. If interested, please comment to this post or reach out to betafeedback@squareup.com. From there, we'll reach out directly with the next steps!
Thanks!
Phil, Square Beta Team

Hi,
Thanks for your interest in this beta! We are currently testing out the feature for iOS. Square for Retail is not currently supported, but I can add you to a list of merchants to contact once we start testing for this.
Would you like me to turn on the feature for you to use with your iOS devices?

Hello. A major part of our business relies on the sale of items per gram. We have been waiting for a feature like this to come to square for a long time! We would love to be beta testers. Thank you!

Really surprised this isn't a feature already. As a design agency that bills clients hourly or in "chunks" (0.5 days for example) - this is something I'd use a lot.
When will this feature be rolled out to Invoices?

We'd love to participate - we just started creating items to sell things we sell by weight (ounce) and have been working around the absence of this with multiple variations. This would be great!

This is a good start. The mission-critical missing feature for us, however, is barcode scanning of price-embedded bar codes. All of our weight-based products already have labels on them from a CAS 5000B scale. They include a price-embedded barcode, which contains the 1) Product SKU and 2) the weight-based price ($) of the package. Being able to configure the bluetooth barcode reader to properly extract and use those two pieces of information will 100% eliminate manual keystrokes and potential mistakes at checkout. Revel offers this powerful and useful capability out-of-the-box.

My business is in exactly the same place. And I've shared that feedback by email, in this forum, and even during a phone survey many times. I fear that the ability to scan variable weight codes is far down Square's list of priorities. 😞
