I just bought the new macbook and I am starting a new business. Everything says that the readers will work with phone or ipad, but can I connect it to my Macbook?

you can connect a magnetic swipe reader to a Mac or Chromebook to take payments via virtual terminal, but you can't use the Bluetooth reader yet. Square Virtual Terminal on a Mac does not have the full feature set that Square POS on an iPhone or iPad as Square was designed for mobile devices.
To have the best experience is to use Square POS on an iPad to use the full feature set and items, Square Virtual Terminal on a Mac only accepts lump sum payments with no itemization.

Is there any update to this? This post is almost a year old. Should be able to support it by now, I would think.

I have an iPad Pro and use the Magstrip with it. I can carry that from office to office. I would like to install the contactless and chip to my MacBook Pro. Is this possible?

The Contactless + Chip reader is not compatible with Macbooks at this time.
