Can I buy a second hand square register to use?

I have used a square card reader for my food business for last 5 years and now thinking to change it to a square register but it seems quite expensive to buy brand new (over $1000)

Just wondering if I can buy a secondhand square register and log-in with my existing account, would it be working without any problem?

At the moment my processing fee is 1.9% as I'm using a card reader, and I would like to know if the less processing fee (1.6%) would be automatically applied if I log in on the square register no matter it is brand new or secondhand.

Is there anyone bought a secondhand register?

When you sign in to your Square account on a Square Register, or the Square Terminal, the 1.6% rate will automatically be applied. Square hardware isn't locked to a particular account, so you can sign in on with your login details on any device and start taking payments. We understand that buying hardware can be daunting, so we also have interest free installment plans available, allowing you to split the cost of a Square Register across 3, 6 or 12 months.
