Any charities on here?

We're a UK children's charity that's been with Weebly for over 10 years. Since they were bought out by Square the platform has been increasingly difficult to use and is almost exclusively focussed on ecommerce in its direction and functionality.

We're now assessing if we need to change platform, but I wanted to see if there are any other charities/NGOs that have remained on the platform and it's working well for them?

Hey @esthersmiv1, thank you so much for your post and welcome to the Seller Community. I'm sorry to hear that Square Online has been difficult to use for you. I'll be sure to pass your feedback on to our team to further improve the product.

In the meantime, we do have various partnerships that incorporate Square as a payment processor for online purchases. Some popular websites that integrate with us include WooCommerce, Wix, and GoDaddy. Check out our app marketplace to find other Website Building platforms that integrate with Square as a payment processor.

Hopefully, a few of our other sellers can provide you with some insight as to which platform best suited them and their business needs.

Let me know if you need anything else!

Hi Skylar... Thank you so much for the welcome and your reply!

I don't think I mentioned anything about payment processors? This isn't so much the problem, but thank you for the information.  It's more that the platform is now simply set out for ecommerce but we're a charity and want to be able to profile our work in the best possible way. It feels that the web site part of the business is being made smaller and all the focus is on ecommerce and marketing for product sales. Functionality for us and beautiful design is getting more clunky, with lots of glitchiness to deal with. It would be great if the mobile phone versions of the site could be altered to suit for example.

Thanks for your feedback @esthersmiv1, Square is an e-commerce platform and as part of our merger with Weebly, you will only have access to those features from here on out.

While we do offer features specific to accepting donations, we acknowledge that they may not be the most suitable for your business. However, if you have any suggestions on how we can enhance our offerings, please do not hesitate to share them. Our product teams are constantly working towards making improvements, so we appreciate any feedback you can provide in that regard.

Thanks Breffni,

Can you tell me anything about the future of weebly? Is functionality for website creation actuallly set to decrease? If so will we be given proper notice so we can move over to another platform? Many thanks.

Howdy there, @esthersmiv1,

Just jumping in here while @Breffni is out of the office!

Most answers to the common questions we receive about Weebly and Square can be found here on our FAQs page. Scroll down on the page to learn how the Square Online site editor differs from Weebly's.

Hopefully, this information will assist you in determining which platform will best suit the needs of your charity moving forward.

Thanks Laurie,

Looking at these FAQs it's fairly obvious that the Square online platform is unlikely to work for us. We are not a shop and don't do ecommerce, we also rely heavily on our blog section for updates.

We also had to disconnect our weebly and square accounts as the log ins went completely haywire and we couldn't even access our site.

Our concern is that surely you'll be phasing out the original Weebly platform builder? In which case how much notice will we be given, and what support to transition our content to another external platform that is more fit for purpose. The goal posts have moved quite a lot since we signed up and we've been left in a situation we didn't ask for.

Hey @esthersmiv1, stepping in for Laurie here.

I don't have any information on whether our team will phase out the original Weebly website builder. However, they have said that they are not planning on implementing many changes to the Weebly platform this coming year. If these changes were to occur, our team will send out a notification to our customers.

If you are still having difficulty logging into your Weebly account, I'd recommend getting in touch with our support team, who can assist you in logging in. You can contact them on 0800 098 8008. We’re available by phone from Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM. Note: The Weebly support team is available after 2 pm for UK customers.
