[Earn free processing] Seeking quick serve restaurant feedback on in person & online order mgmt

Hey community members!

 

I am a product manager on our orders team here at Square and we are improving in person and online order management. We have some early designs and are looking for feedback from you. It will be a quick 30 minute session over video conference.

On the dine-in map where it shows our table layout for table side orders, I created a section named ‘ToGo’ and placed 7 tables under it and another section named ‘Phone Order’ and placed another 7 tables under it. When a customer calls to place an order, we select one of the ‘Phone Order’ tables and add the order there along with the customers names. On the kitchen KDS and printer it shows up as ‘Phone Order Eddie’. On the POS the order stays there as an open ticket until the customer shows up to pickup and pays for the order. Same flow for counter Togo orders.

Hi Kristag, I know I'm in Australia and the time difference is a big issue but I would love to be involved in this.  There are some limitations to in person and online order scheduling that impact our business and I'd love to share my views and how we would benefit from a few changes to square.

That’s amazing news. We’ve hacked a workaround for our phone and counter take out orders but would love to see all take out orders (phone, counter & online) merged and managed in one place. I’m open to help with feedback.

Hey Ronim, I'd love to hear how you've hacked your workaround for phone and counter orders as we have the same issue with square and our takeout orders.  If you've got a minute let me know how you've done it.

I’ve been doing the absolutely exact same thing. 

we also use the “Notify when Ready” feature for the Phone orders too.

Unfortunately there isn't a way to schedule these orders. So we just verbally tell the customer it's going to be 20-30 minutes when they are ordering. There is also no way to text or email the customer when the order is ready, the way online orders work.

The “Notify when Ready” feature will text them (phone orders). Including scheduled phone orders, but you will need to keep the order live or your staff would need to input the order closer to the pick up time (according to your time completions).

I tried the 'Notify When Ready' feature but customers told me they never received a text so it doesn't seem to be working for me

that’s odd. We have been using it since the first day it was available and it’s been great!

have you added the “Notify” button on your menu screen?
