Why clients can not choose 2 or more Drinks (for example) in an order?

Hello everyone!

After trying several POS systems (Shoppify POS, then to eposnow TERRIBLE and finally Square POS) we decided to go with Square POS which looked very promising!

However, after the installation and all, we integrated with Deliverect (AMAZING) and we realized that Square POS does not allow multiple items to be chosen by our customers, which is a complete disaster 😞

Imagine, we have a meal deal that include 2 and 4 drinks. Then someone wants to order 4 cokes or 4 sprites, due to Square POS limitations, they have to choose 1 of each drink, then call our restaurant to edit the order manually.

This is causing so much inconvenience to the clients and then to our staff, as they have to edit the order manually, then change the order on the Square POS (in order to fix the stock management) and also it increases the risks to make a mistake (2 days ago, we had to send the right drink to the customer, 2.4miles away, delivery for just one wrong drink 😞 )

Please fix this issue, otherwise we will have to continue searching for another POS and I would hate this so very much after spending nearly £1,000 to buy your hardware plus the iPad that is compatible 😞

Best regards,

Chris

Hey Chris, I'm not too familiar with the deliverect stuff - isn't that the service that connect the square order manager to people like deliveroo etc?

This doesn't sound like a Square sided issue, maybe one more based with how deliverect is passing on orders?

Have you got a link to your online ordering as I'd be interested to have a look (more for me than being able to help as I don't think I've got the knowledge!)

Hey there! So I just spoke with my deliverect account manager and I got this reply

"Right now Square only allows setting a min and max option for modifiers. What you need is to be able to select a specific modifier more than once.

In Deliverect we have that feature but only works if the POS system has it as well"

They did indeed a demonstration on someone else who is using lightspeed POS and they were able to enable this feature. They also showed to me a second example from someone who is using clover POS and also works!

Then they showed me a few more examples with Square POS and they all had the same limitation.

Deliverect has raised this issue since February and waiting for square to release this feature!

It would be good to have it implemented as it is a very important feature for most restaurants!

It is a shame such a major company to left this feature behind while other competitors has it already!

Hope this message reaches the right person and make a movement to implement this feature 😁

As I said, I would hate to go again in search of a new POS system for all our 13 restaurants

Best,

Chris

Ah, I get what you mean now - yes, I use the square online site & it has that same restriction on there.

Not sure how the integration works, but a workaround here is to have a modifier like "Diet Coke" then a drop down where you can add 0-5 (with it defaulting to 0, so they don't have to do anything). So they still only make the one selection, but can add more than one item to it.

The Square community guys are really active both on the board & also the development team - but being realistic until something is ready to launch there's not huge amounts of info that comes out. It can be frustrating to see the same 'I'll pass this on to the team' responses for requests, but they really do look at everything..... we just have to wait for it 😂

Hi @ChrisMavUK, thanks for sharing this! I've flagged it with our Partnership team who have been working with Deliverect to see if there is any update on this feature, a timeline I can share or any further workaround the team can offer. Once I have more information, I'll be sure to follow up on this thread.

In the meantime, it's definitely worth trying @Sam_400º workaround as well!
