Is the "Skip detail screen in Point of Sale" feature not supported by the Terminal?

Hi there guys,

 

I've just realised that dealing with product variations is much easier on an iPad than on the Square Terminal in that the iPad lets you use the "Skip detail screen in Point of Sale" feature – for some reason, the Terminal doesn't support this and so picking a variation is enforced whenever you add a variable product to a sale. Hope that makes sense.

 

Am I just getting it wrong or am I right in this? -if I am, would Square consider supporting this feature on the Terminal as well? It would greatly speed up service as there are already quite a few steps involved for each sale.

Hey @skafte, thanks for your post! 

 

I just tested this out on my own Terminal and iPad and indeed, it seems like the "Skip detail screen in Point of Sale" feature is not available on the Square Terminal. I'll be sure to pass this over to our team as a feature request as I can see why going through all the modifiers would be a long process when taking payments.

Hi there @k_atie – any news on this by any chance?

 

We currently have to push 6 'buttons' (if you include waking the screen) in order to make a single sale. It's slowing us down and we do actually lose sales because of this. It's becoming a real headache, to be honest.

One thing is to enable the 'Skip detail screen in Point of Sale' for the Terminal, but it would be even better if you could also skip the 'Review sale' button and go straight to the payment screen – and then even skip the 'Confirm and pay' button as well. That would bring us down from 6 clicks to 3.

 

Hope to see this improved as otherwise, we might have to look for an alternative payment solution as it's just slowing us too much down.

Hey @skafte, thanks for your post. I do not have any updates on this feature at this time, unfortunately. 

 

I'd recommend reading through how Feature Requests and The Seller Community Works to get a better understanding of the development of our products based on customers' feedback like yours. 

 

I understand how frustrating it is to go through so many screens when trying to take a payment. Hopefully, this is something we'll be able to change in the future.

Thanks for your quick response @k_atie! -and thanks for the link you kindly shared with me. I hadn't seen that article/post.

 

I understand that it can take a long time to get feature requests through, but can you perhaps just confirm that this one is still on your radar and not forgotten about? That would bring my mind to ease 🙂

 

Perhaps also consider a public roadmap where users can see which features you're working on and how far you are with them. Like Monzo's Trello board: https://trello.com/b/FNEatI34/monzo-business-account

That is also a great idea, and I definitely would agree that seeing each feature request would be a very neat function! I'll also pass this on to our product team, as it would provide a lot of clarity on how our products are being developed. 😊
