The key piece of software that we use is Numbers (Apple's version of Excel). Everything we do is basically run through spreadsheets, finances, inventory, scheduling, labor, pricing, sales history, sales projections, Preordering, supplies, etc.
I guess even more key would just be Apple and Mac OS. Having all our info and spreadsheets, etc available at any MacBook or iMac we sit down at is great and with iCloud you can even do it on any PC. Copy pasting between Mac and iPhone. Using one Mac keyboard and mouse to control other ones near it. iPhone mirroring. It is kinda funny that I feel so lost when I sit down at a PC anymore after being on Mac since 2004, but I had built over 50 PCs between 1990 and 2000.

So far I have found out that I like this or that feature from any company, but no company has everything that works the way I want or need to have everything in one place. Square is good for accepting credit cards and Overall inventory. How many Widgets I have, but where they are in the store has to be kept elsewhere or just memorized. This is where Odoo's 1 software Free comes in with Inventory. So far I have 1284 Storage Locations in Odoo for my items and I am not even done adding those. I also looked into Zapier for connections between my different online softwares that run in the back.

I use QB for all the finances of course but I also use an online platform called Dext for tracking my receipts. I keep my receipts in paper form in one file from the previous year until after taxes are filed and approved, then I shred them. All of our records are stored on the service. I only keep revolving account statements on paper because we have a lot of suppliers and I can't always access their past records. We often have to go back to previous statements to get information. Without these two services, bookkeeping would be a lot more difficult!
