Used Mac Hardware Sellers

Hello fellow Square Sellers. I'm going to need to replace an old Mac laptop very soon, and wondered if any sellers' business in the Community deals with quality used or new mac laptops/hardware. I've used several online dealers in the past, but I wondered if any businesses represented here would have their own website.

Please drop your site below if you may be able to help, or if you've dealt with other reputable online dealers; I'd welcome the recommendations.

Note: it's gotta be a Mac (sorry PC folks, just too old to change what I'm comfortable working with). Thanks!

I used to use Swappa.com back in the day.  Its grown significantly since. But a very trusted site/sellers IMO.

Story that you didn't ask for....

I've never been one to need that next available device, but when  Google's Pixel book dropped in 2017, I think I paid around $1700 for the darn hing.  Which is just insane.  Up until 2 months ago, that thing was put through hell, used daily, with me pretty much 6 days a week.  It owed me nothing.  One morning, just grabbed my coffee, about to get my brain in gear and sure as crap, my hands were not ready to do anything and coffee spills all over the keys.  Tried to save it, had it hanging around for a few days, the touch screen was still fine, but as much as I use the thing it was going to cut it (and windows makes me vomit).  Since they stopped making them , I actually found this one Ebay for $160!  It was in better condition than mine was!  So I snagged that up quickly, once I checked over the seller reviews and the description etc etc.  Its been perfectly fine since.

I don’t sell Macs, but have you checked out the Apple refurbished store? That’s where I buy all my iMacs, MacBooks, iPads.  It’s usually about 15-20% off but you get the same warranty from Apple as if you buy a new one from them.

*points up* This is what I've always done went I wanted to get a good deal. Sometimes you can find a deal through a third party retailer who is trying to clear out some older inventory or older models, but Apple refurbished has been my go-to for 20 years now.

We bought an old iMac from StackSocial. It does the job for what we needed.

They tend to be the Intel based machines though.

Thanks @Minion I'll check out that site...and the Pixel Book. I've been using a used, very old Mac laptop for the past 7 years (I think it's a 2012 model) but it's been super solid performer. I've been tempted to stray many times out of the "Mac/Apple Zone" especially when it comes to phones. it seems like some Galaxy phones have much better cameras and features, but the few times I spent looking at my relative's non-Apple phones, I didn't "get it" LOL, and I think I'm tech savvy. I think it's just a matter of finding the correct switch to flip in my brain!

I've tried Apple before a couple times, but I have been Android since the beginning ( is it weird that we can say since the beginning? I'm Old)  .  I've never liked Samsung, they have so much bloat loaded on to the phone.  I used to always get some sort of phone , and root and run a custom ROM on it, (software).  Since Google started dropping phones, I've stuck with them, Pure Android.

With Apple stuff (that's all I have which is currently active 6 iPhones, 6 MacBook Airs, 5 iMacs, 9 iPads) I just buy from apple or amazon or Walmart new.  you'd be surprised the sales you can find on Walmart and amazon on new apple gear

If you have never had an M Series based MacBook you are in for a treat.  The M Series of chips from Apple is so fast it is unbelievable.  My Daily driver laptop is a launch day M1 13"

Gone are the days of buying MacBook Pros.  The air can do crazy amounts of video editing and multitrack recording.

I would just get the base M3 at 1099 and bump the memory to 16 for $200 and that thing will be your best friend for 5+.

thanks for the post @VanKalkerFarms I really appreciate the insight, especially about the Chip issue. I used to follow Mac news closely, but I haven't for many years, so I'm out of touch with the specifics. Great to know the M series is so fast; I do a lot of photo editing so I need the speed and power to do that, and keep a bunch open and operating at the same time.

I currently have a MacBook Pro (2012 edition) and it is a ton heavier than the Airs I've seen, mainly it still has an integral CD drive. But I think the times I've used the CD probably doesn't necessitate having one again. And I do have an external CD drive if I ever need it. Looking forward to checking out the M series options, thanks again.
