Hi Seller Community. We here at Square are wondering...

If you had to pick one feature you feel Square's platform is missing, what would it be?

I would like to see a price override option.  This option will allow you to change the price of any item temporally "for this sale only" on the fly like at the POS counter on the register.

IE. Customer comes to your location, selects an item they wish to buy and requests a lower price due to damage to item or other reasons...  (would need manager approval) you would touch the price of the item and change it. then a box would popup for reasons IE  Damage, late delivery, price was advertised at a lower price, price match at other stores etc... or Other "type in reason."

I dont think this is much to ask and would benefit everyone using the system

Custom client profiles. Where we can put in notes about the client that shows up when we click their name and not just in a certain appointment.

The option of charging the fees to the customer. I see many places doing this now. The receipt shows the cost with cash or card.

Different style of client reviews\feedback. I want my clients to get a text after checkout that lets them give a star review and actually write in feedback.

I wish it functioned better as a CRM for service providers and had more customizable automations and workflows (emails, follow ups, etc.)

I would love to be able to make notes in my team member's files.  We have the option to upload documents or put notes in Customer's files but not team members.  For example, being able to note disciplinary action, two week's notices uploaded to files, etc would make it very helpful when we need to look back for any reason.

I'm going to add one more event though it says one!  On the reports page when you're closing out the daily drawer a calculator would be amazing and a drawer report that actually showed what coins/bills were there when the team member closed.

I think it's awesome you even asked!

We have 2 actually

- ability to text message when orders are ready.

- Delivery zone needs to be a Geojson. Area codes and big stupid circles do not work. Your online delivery platform is useless without this feature.

I would like a inventory report both for items that are out of stock and current on hand inventory.  Currently the reports of sales are great with breakdown available by item as well.  Inventory report would include categories, item name and or item number, qty on hand (zero inventory included)

Appointment Scheduling (as in booking for a class with XX number of openings - or booking private lessons).  Square Appointments seems to be a first stab but is not functional enough to be useful.

Autopay subscription service.  I have had to use Paypal (which doesn't do it well either) for monthly subscriptions because there's no way to set up autopay for subscriptions.

Custom Android/Apple app for business that integrates all square functionalities.

Hi! Thanks for the feedback. We do have a subscriptions product (under your dashboard, there is a "Subscriptions" icon) which has recurring payments. If you need more help or have needs that it cannot accommodate, please feel free to reach out to me through Seller Community. I work on the Subscriptions product here at Square ๐Ÿ™‚

I wish square could force a "return the product back to the merchant once you have won a dispute policy) with the banks, before the customers bank refunds their money. Many customer make fraudulent disputes and some claims may say the felt they were overcharged, and their bank will allow this and refund the money to them, so they get both the product and their money, and the merchant looses both as well.

This has got to stop.

More robust and flexible inventory tracking options that are real time, account for inventory no matter how it's sold (as an item vs modifier), and better transparency between online and POS inventory.

I would love to be able to charge in an entire group of customers at one time for the same items.  A subscription charge instead of having to charge in each customer with saved data one at a time.  Then it should give me a report of the cards that failed and give me the option of sending them an invoice for the product.  That would be amazing for my wine club charges every quarter.

It would be beneficial to sell egift cards that people can redeem in-store with a QR code or a bar code. I don't have time to punch in a 16 digit number for each egift card transaction, and it would be huge if I could just scan their phone or whatever with a barcode/QR hand scanner. You have this on the physical gift cards but not on egift cards. My gift card sales would ballon if I could accept them in store. Currently, I mail the physical card because that is easier than waiting for a customer to produce a 16 digit number that my team has to enter. Thanks!

I love this! Since there is no store credit feature, I use gift cards that I make "free". But having to punch in the numbers is time consuming. Luckily, I've memorized the first 8 digits because they're always the same.

I have a ton of wishlist items for improvements to Square; I'll post them individually so they can be discussed or "liked" by others.

My number one feature request is more for the app than Square Online specifically, but I would love to have the ability to take orders in-person with the app/Square Reader for things to be SHIPPED to the customer!

Right now you can take in-person orders for future pickup, but most of the orders I'm taking at craft shows are things I need to make at home and then then ship out. If I could have the option in the Square app to ring up a customer myself, have them pay in-person on the Square Reader, and pick between a "store pickup" or a "shipping" fulfillment for their order just like a customer would be able to do on the online webstore, that would be an amazing improvement to my workflow!

I'll further explain my use case in the replies.

I have a workaround to this limitation in the meantime... I add a new customer contact to the order so I take down all their information for communication and shipping, but then that transaction won't go into my actual order queue. So I started marking/pretending the order is for "pickup" later that day, just so I can keep track of my to-do orders separately from my regular sales.

This workaround method also means that I cannot do things like attach shipment tracking or send automatic text/email to the customer with that info, like I could if they had placed an order on the online store. Instead it will tell them confusingly that their order is "ready for pickup", when in reality it was actually something that was shipped. But it does give me a way to mark when an order is fulfilled.

I could technically have the customer navigate to my webstore on their phone, put everything in the cart, and check out themselves just so the order goes into my work queue and the customer stays informed about the order status automatically... that's terribly inconvenient and defeats the purpose of the in-person ordering process. I considered using my own tablet to take down a new order via my Square Online webstore myself, pretending it's like a POS, but then it's a problem to have the customer pay and I don't want to type in all their credit card info manually onto my tablet (not to mention a security risk). They need to use the Square Reader for checkout.

So for now, I just have to make fake pickup orders and then manually email or text all my customers with the shipping info. I also have to attach notes to the customer contact in SquareUp, because there's no way to attach a tracking number to a pickup order, of course.

This leads me into kind of a part-two wishlist item... Something changed recently and I am no longer able to take those "pickup" orders for customers I ring up in-person with the Square App and view the order in Square Online. I need to print out a invoice/packing slip of all my orders to stay organized, but there is no good way to print out a receipt for a in-person order taken from the Square App on a normal home printer. The format used to print an invoice/packing slip for regular Square Online orders shows all the info I need, and it was awesome to discover I could open a manual pickup order inside Square Online to print out a copy of the webpage, but now I can't find that option anymore.

In the meantime, I end up having to print out a copy of the email receipt it sends the customer, which is formatted horribly and provides very little info (such as no customer info/address, no order notes, no item modifier text boxes), so it's a chore writing the details of a custom order manually on the printed receipt and/or pulling it up in SquareUp to look at every time I need to work on a particular order.
