So many things, but I'll go with "Think short term AND long term". don't just think about what your business will be and need in the next week, month or year, but also the next 5 years or 10 years. Think big picture where an investment now will save big over time. Will the place you are looking at be big enough in 5 years and weigh the cost of leasing the smaller space vs the cost of the bigger space and the cost of building your store twice and moving etc.

Create a thorough business plan. There are many templates on the web to utilize. Investigate your market. Get involved with the local Chamber Of Commerce and Small Business Administration. Listen to business podcasts. Beat the streets and create connections. Identify your strengths and weaknesses and bring on people to take on the areas that you are weak at. Be ready to shed blood, sweat and tears. Make sure it is something that you are absolutely passionate about.

Just start! Nothing is perfect from the start, so don't let that stop you from launching that amazing idea. Refine the business model/idea as you learn and grow.
